You are now at Ginseng-Roots.com. This started as a small Grateful Dead related vending enterprise that eventually expanded into this mail order business. I had researched Ginseng in the early Eighties while I was working on a degree in Psychology. Ginseng intrigued me in that it was reputed both to decrease stress and to energize. The primary anti-anxiety drugs of that time, (the benzodiazepine sisters Valium, Librium, Centrax, Florazepam and later Xanax to name just a few) indicated that stress needed to be subdued with a chemical hammer that not only got rid of the stress, but also subdued the individual. Perhaps that was due to "sound medical advice" at that time, or perhaps it was due to the massive advertising budgets of the pharmaceutical industries.....for my take on this look at my chamomile research.

Ahem, back on track...Ginseng and herbal research continued to interest me, so while my academic research in Psychology focused on Stress and Chamomile, in my non-academic life I started giving away lots of ginseng to friends and acquaintances. At one point a friend asked "Hu, do you have any ginseng?" I gave him some and somehow he took it without thanking me...I thought about this for a while, then realized that I had been participating in an unequal exchange of energy...and this brought about the realization that for others to place a value on something, I had to place a value on it. The next day, I started selling ginseng instead of giving it away, and Ginseng Unlimited, the fore-runner of Ginseng-Roots.com, was born. Ultimately this evolved into quite a mail order enterprise, which not so ironically allows me to give away far more ginseng than ever before......and allowed me to go to far more Dead concerts (about 450) than I could have otherwise...
